National Park Mljet

Hi people!

   I simply adoooooore RubiStar!

I heard about rubrics before this course, but I didn't use it before. I really don't know how something as useful as this didn't reach me before. I think the rubrics could be incredibly useful when I have to assess the whole class at short period of time. It makes the assessing aspects really clear and gives you an opportunity to be more objective.

Creating an assessment rubric was so amazingly easy that it took me a few minutes to create it using templates. Anyway, I made a rubric for a puppet show based on a short story that I do in my class. The topic of the Unit is ANIMALS and it is in my third grade class.

This is all for my first blog post of this week.

Ivana

Enjoy the images of my hometown!

Hi people!

The fourth week is passing and I have some reflections for you.

I find your posts very invigorating and encouraging because I see that we all have more or less the same class issues.
I think that he most common ones no matter the age of pupils or students are lack of motivation and independent learning.
In my country, there just isn't a motivation of  “learning to learn“, children are mostly motivated to earn a grade, not to gain knowledge. Even worse, they are encouraged by their surroundings to receive good grades, no matter what stands behind it.
So, I think that my main class issues are motivation to learn and lack of independent learning.

Regarding the lesson plan we had to write, I have noticed that there are different versions of it. There is one from 2010. and the other from 2012. It seems to me that the Word version (that can be downloaded) is more elaborate than the Google.doc one. Anyway, writing the mentioned lesson plan was fun, I really liked it.
If you want to check it and give some comments, here is the link:

That's all for now. "See you" next week.

National Park BRIJUNI

Dobra večer (means "Good evening!"  in Croatian) dear colleagues!

I was a little lazy this week, so I was postponing writing about our project task, because I saw there was a lot reading to do. Anyway, I decided to write about a project made by Camelia Pagila, from Giurgiu, Romania, simply because she works in an elementary school as I do, so I can easily relate to the project.

To summarize the project, Camelia Paglia's idea was to improve both teaching and learning in her classes. She tried to implement all the teaching styles she could use to meet children's multiple intelligence. In order to do that, she planned to use technology and the Internet through the course in 13 weeks. The term of multiple intelligence is appealing to me and I attended a seminar recently on the topic.

What I like about this project is the fact that is well written and developed in almost every detail. The project seems doable and fairly real. I also like the idea that she included so many different Internet sources, making the project diverse and surely appealing to the children.
Her project also made me wonder how mine will look like... Surely, we will see it in a few weeks.

KORNATI

Hi everyone!

After having read the technology tip, I opened the account on Delicious.com. It was rather easy, especially because of the possibility to sign in using my Facebook account.
Anyway, I must admit that the site did not grow on me at first, but I start to see some good sides of it. For example, I could share my bookmarks with all my collegues.

Regarding the sites we were to explore for listening and speaking  exercises, I want to point out some of them that I like the most
www.onestopenglish - excellent lesson plans

www.esl-lab.com.- great listening exercises all done to fulfill the three type exercises; it can be used for different levels of knowledge and age

For further developing skills, I can strongly recommend:

It has many topics with many great and interesting exercises. Hope you will enjoy it.

KOPAČKI RIT

As I was reading the writing objectives, I realized that the ABCD method is a nice way to clear myself the objectives of any lesson or any class I teach.

Before this course, I wasn't familiar with the ABCD method as such, but I think that we all do something similar every day while making our lesson plans. In my country, we simply write more sentences to describe the objectives of learning.
I think this is more practical and concise way to do it. I like the fact that we are obliged to be more precise in choosing the right words for describing the objectives.

SLAPOVI KRKE, VISOVAC
Hello, hello!

The first week is slowly coming to the end. It is time for a little reflection on it. It was rather confusing for me at the beginning, but I have managed to do all the tasks we had to do.
The most interesting one was doing the blog. I now keep asking myself how didn't I do it before? It is very interesting and I am beginning to see all the possibilities of it. It can really be incorporated in a funny, interesting and very appealing way in a classroom. I am sure that my classes will adore giving their comments on different themes I plan to write about once our Webskill course is finished.
Regarding Nicenet, I think that it is convenient that we have our own private chat room. I also see some possibilities in it too.

Anyway, I can add that I have surely learned some useful things I didn't know or use before and that only can be a good thing.

Good luck to all of you, my colleagues,

Ivana

week 1 reflections

PLITVIČKA JEZERA
Hi everyone!
Week 1... I actually feel a little bit lost in all these passwords I have to remember. And I thought I knew something about computing... I have logged on Jupiter Grades earlier, but I couldn't repeat the previous success. Maybe it is little late, I need fresh start... Good night
